‘Bicho raro’ , 2026, acrylic and oil on canvas, 130×195cm

‘Bicho raro’ is my largest piece so far, measuring 130×195 cm. Working on this piece allowed me to create something that is physically bigger then me. The title, ‘Bicho raro’ (“strange creature”), represents the funny and weird side within me, an awkwardness I often try to hide.

This side is reflected in the small, creature-like forms within the work, each embodying fragments of that hidden self. The piece not only occupies physical space but also demands visual attention; its scale is intentionally overwhelming, almost to the point of discomfort. This is a piece that needs space to express itself. Through this, I explore what it feels like to be seen as “too much” while learning to embrace and give space to these parts of myself.
