‘Heridas’ , 2025, Acryic, silk paper, oil, 80×120 cm
‘Heridas’ (“wounds”) is a deeply personal work in which I explore the impact of traumatic experiences through the metaphor of the wounded body.
It addresses both open wounds, still sensitive and present, and those that, over time, have begun to heal and form scars. The canvas becomes a symbolic body.
From the front, the viewer is confronted only with visible wounds, the marks that time leaves on the surface. From the back, however, the work reveals blood, the living wound, and the latent pain that often remains hidden.
This duality invites reflection on what we choose to show to the world and what we keep concealed. Conceived in a three dimensional format, the piece is not only observed but experienced spatially, encouraging a more physical and emotional engagement.
By drawing from my own history and personal trauma, ‘Heridas’ becomes both an act of exposure and a process of healing. In this sense, it stands as an intimate testimony and an invitation for the viewer to confront their own relationship with pain, memory and recovery.
